Leadership Pendleton

We had a great morning hosting the Leadership Pendleton group. It is always fun to share our buildings and all the great things happening in them with visitors, and this group definitely did not let us down. Big kudos to all of our staff and students that represented us so well! We saw classrooms at all levels, and if our time hadn’t run out, I am sure we would still be in classrooms. We appreciate the opportunity to show off our schools, thank you for giving us the opportunity to brag about our teachers and our kids!

We Kicked It Up!

The PHS cafeteria was full of energy last night as the Pendleton School District hosted the Monthly Kick It Up After 5 with the Pendleton Chamber. We were entertained by musical and drama performances and were treated by the Pro Start students with several appetizers. It was great for us to get to show off a little bit, and as usual, our students represented the district by presenting top-notch performances. Thank you to all who came, it was our pleasure.

Time Flies...

Where has January gone? It seems as though yesterday we were welcoming in the New Year. This month has definitely been busy. We have a new member to the School Board. Welcome, again, Steve Umbarger. We are looking forward to working with Steve starting at the February 8th meeting.

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a relaxing holiday season, but secretly (or not so secretly!) we are glad it's over!  This place gets lonely with no one around.  It is great to have staff and students back in the buildings!   There are a lot of activities going on across the district, check out individual building web sites for more specific information.

Here’s to a safe, happy and healthy 2010!

Key Communicators

We had a great meeting this morning with the Key Communicators group!  Over 20 community members came to the District Office this morning to hear a little bit about current happenings in the PSD.  It is great to be a part of a community that is so involved and supportive of schools.

Winter is Here!

Winter is here in full force.  We have seen some bitterly cold temperatures, batteled indoor recesses, and today met our first weather related delay.  When we made the decision late yesterday afternoon to run on a two hour delay, it wasn't done without a lot of thought and conversation.  Our number one priority in making these decisions is student and staff safety.  We understand the scheduling conflicts school delays and closures can cause, and we appreciate your support in keeping our kids safe.

Finally!!!!

This is my first blog since being hired as superintendent in our district. I'm sure many people have been waiting anxiously to read my comments!!!!! On a more serious note, I would love to hear from you. If you have thoughts/ideas related to our schools and our programs please feel free to share them with us. One of our goals for the 2009-10 school year is to improve communication district and community wide. We are trying to do a better job of distributing information about the Pendleton School District. More importantly, we are focused on improving our listening skills.
