PHS Track Closed Starting May 10

The track and field at Pendleton High School will be inaccessible and closed to public use (considered a construction zone) starting Wednesday, May 10, due to replacement of the track. The track will be closed all summer, as the project is slated to continue through August.

This project, along with a minor renovation of the high school auditorium, will complete the district’s bond projects.

Pendleton Staff in the Spotlight - May 2017

The district is pleased to announce the May 2017 Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!

Minor Bus Accident Tuesday, May 9

There was a minor bus accident near the Mission Market this afternoon, Tuesday, May 9, on a Pendleton School District bus route. A total of 20 students were on the bus, and there were no injuries of any kind.

The students were transferred to another bus from Mid Columbia Bus Company, and the regular routes were continued.

Kovach Leaves Superintendent Position Prior to June 30

Andy Kovach signed a separation agreement effective April 28, 2017, with the Pendleton School District Board of Directors. Previously, on February 13, Kovach had resigned his position effective June 30, but the separation agreement moves the separation date forward to now.

Kovach stated, “Pendleton is a wonderful town and fine school district. It is with regret that I am leaving. I would like to thank the Pendleton Board of Directors, the district staff and the community for their support and hard work.”

Public Invited to Meet Superintendent Finalists

The Pendleton School District Board of Directors has scheduled time on Wednesday, May 3, for the public to meet the four finalists for the district superintendent position. From 3:30 to 5:50 PM in the Pendleton High School Commons, the candidates will rotate individually into the public session for 30 minutes each. Everyone attending these sessions will have the opportunity to ask questions and to provide written feedback to the Board about their impressions of the candidates if they choose to do so.

McKay School on Brief Lock Out Wednesday, April 26

This morning (Wednesday, April 26) McKay Creek Elementary School was put into Lock Out inadvertently through the phone system. Staff quickly responded to the error and the Lock Out was canceled. It lasted for approximately five minutes. There were no threats of any kind and students were not in danger at any time.
