Students at McKay Creek Elementary are enjoying a re-furbished gymnasium this school year thanks to an upgrade project completed last summer.
Last school year, P.E. teacher Randy Jeness created a vision for gym upgrades and a proposal to fund them and discussed them with Ronda Smith, then the principal at McKay.
Thanks to district bond proceeds and donations from community partners, the gym received a total make-over, including new lights, wall padding, glass backboards, a scoreboard, projection system including a screen and sound system. To finish off the project, the walls were re-painted for a fresh, clean feel.
“Our bright, new gymnasium is a great asset for McKay School and will serve our students for many years to come,” said Lorena Woods, McKay principal.
The Pendleton School District thanks the following organizations for their contributions to make this project happen:
Pendleton Foundation Trust - $13,844
Wildhorse Foundation - $10,932
Altrusa - $900
