Notice from District Re: Air Quality

Since it appears that the air quality in Pendleton will continue to be at levels that can pose health issues for individuals, the Pendleton School District will conduct all recess and P.E. classes indoors, as well as athletic practices and games. All schools will operate on regular schedules. Parents, if you do not feel comfortable sending your child to school under these conditions, the district respects your decision. The district asks that you contact your child’s school to excuse your student's absence if this is your decision. For specific athletic information, please contact your child’s school.

UPDATE: For PHS sports and activities this weekend, the high school will make the decision for games and activities based on air quality conditions and student health/safety. The most updated athletic & activity schedules can be viewed on the PHS website. (external link)

Superintendent Chris Fritsch said, "We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days and return to the outdoors when the air quality has improved to a safe and comfortable level."
