The Pendleton High School Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams will play a special tournament due to the cancellation of multiple games in the last ten days due to inclement weather.
Athletic Directors in the Intermountain Conference (IMC) have been discussing the challenging situation conference schools have faced these past few weeks with the winter weather in the Columbia Gorge. With nearly a week of missed school days by the Pendleton, Hood River and The Dalles school districts, the IMC Athletic Directors have had to take somewhat drastic action to complete the basketball season for both boys and girls.
Attempting to play up to six games in seven days was not a good situation for our athletes and nearly impossible to attempt. These games represented the second half of our IMC basketball season. Trying to be creative in meeting the needs of our athletes, coaches and communities, the IMC ADs worked out a 2nd half league tournament. The tournament will begin Thursday, February 21st.
