PHS music students recently performed at Disneyland. The Swing Choir, A Cappella Choir and the Jazz Ensemble included a total of 74 students, 15 chaperones and two directors. They performed on the Hollywood Backlot Stage in Disney’s California Adventure, which meant access backstage into restricted cast member areas and using Disney performers' dressing rooms and warm-up spaces.
In addition to performances, the students spent some free time in the park. The swing band ‘Phat Cat Swingers’, who perform high-energy swing band music in the park in several sets daily, invited the jazz band to visit with them following a set and have pictures taken with them.
"Our students left inspired and encouraged (and tired!). Each group earned a Disney Performing Arts plaque, and each student was recognized with a special Disney Performing Arts lanyard," said Emily Muller-Cary, PHS Choir Director.
