The Pendleton School District congratulates Rachelle Spicknall who was recently recognized as a finalist for Substitute Teacher of the Year by the Oregon Substitute Teachers Association (OSTA). Although Spicknall did not win the state award, she and all finalists will be recognized at the OSTA’s Annual Conference on October 20th in Salem.
Spicknall, who has been a substitute teacher in Pendleton for several years, said she was surprised and honored when Kelly Doherty, secretary at Sunridge Middle School, nominated her. "I love being a substitute teacher and building connections with students. I feel very fortunate to work in our schools -- Pendleton teachers are amazing and our students are incredible. I think we have great schools," Spicknall said.
