May 2022 Staff in the Spotlight

The district is pleased to announce the May 2022Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!

Aaron Big Leggins PELC Aaron BigLeggins – for working hard to keep our building clean and being friendly to staff and students.  He is a wonderful addition!  He has a positive attitude, greets students, and completes his tasks with a smile.  He is doing great work to keep our school awesome.
Holly Whitten McKay Holly Whitten – for making amazing connections with students.  Holly makes 1st graders start out their journey at McKay so positive.  Her students love school and love her.  She does amazing work with children every day.  She comes in with passion and love not only for her students but every child she comes in contact with.  Her ability to teach reading is unmatched.  Thank you, Holly, for making our school feel so welcoming and for providing excellent reading instruction.  We are lucky to have you at McKay.
Lisa Roberts Sherwood Lisa Roberts – Lisa’s dedication to the needs of Sherwood students is unmatched.  She is a vital part of their success and well-being.  Lisa is amazing at helping to make sure that all the needs of students are met.  She communicates with staff, families, and community organizations to help students get things that they need.  Her kindness helps so many people in our school and our community.  Her tireless work with our students as well as our teachers is amazing and so appreciated.  She is always so helpful and knowledgeable.  She helps the whole school and is always so calm despite all of the things that are happening around her.
Bridget Tackett Washington Bridget Tackett – for going out of her way to help all students and teachers.  She can handle it all, and we love her.
Rocio Jimenez Sunridge Rocio Jimenez – Rocio’s schedule has changed a million times, and each time she is kind and willing to do what is needed for the school.  Thank you for having such a positive attitude Rocio!  SMS is lucky to have you.
Peggy Ruiz PHS Peggy Ruiz – Peggy is the kind of assistant who sees something that needs to be done and takes care of it without being asked.  She helps keep the students focused and on track so that they can keep up with the many requirements in today’s high school classroom.  Peggy is wonderful with the students and they adore her.  She is kind, compassionate, and patient with the students in our special education program and they adore her.  One of Peggy’s many attributes is her persistence in getting the job done.  She has been a great asset to our school as she has often been called upon to balance more when others assistants are called upon to sub in certified classrooms.  We are very fortunate to have Peggy with us at PHS.
Kim Richards Hawthorne/Homestead Kim Richards – I am recognizing Kim Richards for her willingness to move her afternoons to the Alt. School to run science labs for those students.  She does an outstanding job with our science students as well as all students at Hawthorne Alt.
Suzanne Howard District Office/
Suzanne Howard – We are recognizing Suzanne for keeping up with the constant changes required due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  She is always positive and responsive to the needs of staff and students.  Suzanne is always willing to go the extra mile and does it with a smile.  She works within the very restrictive guidelines she is given to provide the best product and service she can.  She is an amazing asset to our schools.
