New Faces in Pendleton Schools

Amiee House, 1st Grade Teacher, Washington Elementaryamiee house

House is no stranger to Pendleton nor to the students at Washington Elementary, as she has been an Instructional Assistant there for the past two years. This is her first year as a classroom teacher. House is an example of the emerging alternative route to teaching through a program that allows people with a Bachelor’s degree to work in the classroom while completing a Master’s degree in Education program. House was enrolled in the program at Eastern Oregon University.

In addition to being an Instructional Assistant, House was a substitute teacher for a number of years and served as a reading specialist. Her hobbies include traveling, the outdoors, experiencing new cultures, reading, playing sports and coaching. “Basically I like to be active and always be learning something new," she said.
