Hunter is a product of the Pendleton School District, graduating from PHS in 2011. He is a second-generation educator -- his mother, Nicole Erwin, teaches 6th Grade at Sunridge Middle School.

Erwin returned home to Pendleton after earning a Bachelor's degree in science from the University of Oregon in 2015 and a Master’s in Education from the University of Oregon in 2017. He recently completed his certification in English of Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Erwin has received formal training in Sheltered Instructional Observation Protocol (SIOP) and the Next Generation Science Standards. Oreo, the cat stuffed animal he has had since age seven, is one of the props he uses in his “safe” space in his classroom.

Erwin is pleased to be back in Pendleton. “Being from here, I have always loved the feeling and community. It is just an added bonus that I get to work alongside many of my former teachers who inspired me to get to this point."
