February 2021 Staff in the Spotlight

The district is pleased to announce the February 2021 Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!

PELC Rachele Johnson – for being kind and helpful at any time.  She is always extremely positive and supportive of our staff.  Rachele does so much to help others at the PELC.  We are so lucky to have her.
McKay Karen Bordenkircher –for helping staff get their student supplies together for supply pick-up day and organizing our report card information.  She makes everything run smoothly at McKay.
Sherwood Lisa Roberts – Lisa is a kids-first focused counselor who not only supports students and families, but also us, the staff.  She is approachable and kind-hearted, not to mention her hilarious sense of humor (you should see the video announcement bloopers).  She works hard doing home visits, connecting our families to needed resources, and celebrating successes with all.  She is a dedicated and hardworking employee, and we are lucky to have her at Sherwood.
Washington Hollie Chay – Hollie is an exceptional teammate.  She is collaborative, and she is always willing to problem solve.  Hollie is an amazing asset to Washington.
Sunridge Sarah Yoshioka – for creating the best Character Strong lessons!  She has researched the site and continues to evolve the in person lessons to teach lessons.  If Character Strong saw the stuff she was creating, they would hire her in a heartbeat.
PHS Sarah Davis – for motivation of staff, help with advisory, and plans that help kids.
Nixya’awii No nominee this month
Hawthorne/ Homestead Emily Williams – Emily is nominated for continuing her rigorous writing and language curriculum with our Homestead students.  She does an amazing job both in person and through Meets to keep our students engaged in the learning process.
District Office/
Maintenance
Tiffany Jennings – Although she is not technically our employee, she is deserving of the recognition nonetheless.  For the District Office we nominate Tiffany Jennings, Midco dispatch, bus route maker and miracle worker extraordinaire!  Tiffany has been a constant source of hard work, dedication and “can do” attitude.  Through all the tough parent calls and many busing requests from the schools she continues to have a positive attitude and show genuine kindness at all times.  Thank you Tiffany!
Nixyáawii Community School Arnold Alec and Naomi Wildbill – they were just added to the e-hire staff before we went to our hybrid schedule and have done an exceptional job with the extra cleaning duties necessary to have the kids back in person.
