February 2023 Staff in the Spotlight
The district is pleased to announce the February 2023 Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!
PELC | Miyera Wolf – Congratulations to Miyera Wolf, this month’s PELC Staff in the Spotlight. Miyera works hard to make meaningful connections with students and staff and is always kind and caring to all. Many will tell you Miyera is the kindest, most caring person you will ever meet. Miyera’s smile and calm demeanor simply light up the PELC. Miyera exudes positivity! She loves working with children, and they love working with her. In fact, adults love Miyera just as much as the children do. In addition to working with students in both the English Language Development program and the general education setting, Miyera also uses her great artistic talents to make our school beautiful. She is so talented, and the PELC is lucky to get to experience her love of art. The PELC is a better place because of Mrs. Wolf! Congratulations!
McKay | Stephanie Smith – Mrs. Smith puts in extra time and effort to make sure Battle of the Books happens for our students. She helps to make sure books are ordered, arranges funding, finds volunteers, holds a kickoff assembly, and does anything and everything to make this event run smoothly. We appreciate her extra time and effort.
Sherwood | Luann Gorbett – Here is what some of our staff members had to say about Luann. She is always reliable and goes above and beyond for our school. She is someone you can count on. The ILC is lucky to have her. Luann is very dedicated to her job, and she takes her duties seriously. She does a lot around our school, and she is irreplaceable. She is reliable, hard-working, and puts forth 100%. She works tirelessly at helping our students grow and learn. She can see the big picture needs of our school and collaborates with others to help kids get the education and supervision they deserve.
Washington | Holly Krokosz – Holly puts her whole heart into our students. She is always eager and happy to be a support to our staff as our Intervention Specialist. Holly’s willingness to help our teachers with the MTSS process and so much more is meaningful to all of us. She is an excellent resource here at Washington and is doing so many wonderful things.
Sunridge | Ken Jacobs – Ken teaches woodshop at SMS. Here is what his colleagues had to say about him: Ken, you inspire kids, but you also inspire and bring cheer to adults, something we need to keep the team going. You teach kids useful, practical skills and have a sense of humor doing it. You make the woodshop a great learning experience for kids. We are so glad you are part of OUR team.
PHS | Loretta Mackay – Loretta is an instructional assistant at PHS. She is constantly working on making connections with kids, always looking for someone she can help with something they are struggling with or need to catch up on.
