March 2022 Staff in the Spotlight
The district is pleased to announce the March 2022 Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!
PELC | Andrea Dunlap – for helping our students with specific needs and doing awesome lessons in our classrooms. She makes a difference every day in the social-emotional needs for our students. We are so lucky to have her at the PELC. Andrea is such a hard worker and is to be commended for setting up groups so quickly to help support our students. She makes amazing connections with our students. | |
McKay | Marques Johnson – for his positive upbeat attitude. Marques asks good questions. He is reliable, responsible, and a great team member. | |
Sherwood | Delanie Kohr – Delanie is a great addition to Sherwood as well as our district. She is doing a great job of asking questions and learning strategies to help students with their social emotional learning. She has created relationships with her students and that connection has enabled her students to make academic and social growth. | |
Washington | Jen DeGrofft – for being an awesome teacher and teammate. She is doing amazing things in her room and especially in reading instruction. | |
Sunridge | Carly Elder – We are so lucky to have such a talented choir teacher working here at Sunridge. Students really enjoy her class and are developing a genuine appreciation for music. Carly’s dedication to her work and her students is inspiring. Thank you for ALL you do. | |
PHS | Melissa Smith – Mrs. Smith is our Hospitality and Tourism teacher who transitioned from private business to teaching through the CTE instructor certification four years ago. She has done an outstanding job learning the skills necessary to engage students in a meaningful way and build positive relationships. This year Melissa is reinvigorating the student leadership organization, FCCLA. Her students recently attended the State Leadership Conference and brought home the gold medal and the bronze medal in the Culinary Arts event, and also brought home the bronze medal in the “Chapter in Review Display” event. The gold medalist winner qualified to go to nationals and will be competing in San Diego this summer. Way to go Mrs. Smith! | |
Hawthorne/Homestead | Emily Williams – Emily continuously pushes our students to increase their knowledge and growth. Her compassion for her students is second to none. | |
District Office/ Maintenance |
Sharlynne (Charlie) Grabner – Charlie comes to work promptly every day with a positive attitude. She is hardworking and cheerful. She is our night custodian. We appreciate her work to keep our office clean and tidy. | |
Nixyaawii Community School | Wyekin Wildbill – for taking a healthy risk and taking our kids skiing and snowboarding to Bluewood several times this past winter. He also snowboarded with the students. |
