January 2019 Staff in the Spotlight

The district is pleased to announce the January 2019 Staff in the Spotlight recipients. Every month, each of our schools honors a staff member at their building for going above and beyond their regular duties or for doing something special. Join us in celebrating these outstanding employees!

Gretchen McKay PELC Gretchen McKay always being willing to hold children accountable and for helping with kids who are struggling and giving solutions to help.
Holly Whitten McKay Holly Whitten is committed to helping her students become stronger learners and she makes amazing connections with them.  Holly is a wonderful teammate and is willing to go the extra mile to make all of us at McKay better each day. .
Laurie Hummell Sherwood Laurie Hummell, our Library Assistant is willing to step up and help kids every day, especially when we are short subs.  She creates an inviting and interesting environment in our library and is very positive with all staff and students.  She is pretty much, AMAZING!
Susana Argueta Washington Susana Argueta is being recognized for being extremely positive and genuinely caring for the students at Washington Elementary.
Steve Larson Sunridge Steve Larson for always going above and beyond for students and staff.  He never runs out of energy!  Jumping in and helping where there’s a need.  He is a mean man with our light saber traffic lights!
Brian Johnson PHS Brian Johnson helps in the social studies department in all ways.  He goes above and beyond to help students in every area.  An outstanding instructor.

Michael Bittorf Hawthorne/ Homestead Michael Bittorf spends his afternoons here working one-on-one with the students. He sits next to them and explains it with visuals from the internet as well as his extensive knowledge of the English language.
Diana Howland District Office Diana Howland works tirelessly to recruit and onboard new substitutes for all areas of staffing in the district. She works hard to ensure we do not have uncovered positions impacting students.
