By now, most of you are aware that last night Governor Kate Brown directed all schools in the state to close effective Monday, March 16, 2020 thru March 31, 2020. Her directive as it relates to the Pendleton School District included the following:
- School Districts develop plans for returning to school that accommodates ongoing impacts of coronavirus.
- Districts develop plans to continue nutrition services during the closure.
- The Oregon Department of Education examines the impact the closure will have on instructional time.
- School districts ensure adequate cleaning supplies for increased cleaning protocols following the closure.
In addition, for secondary students, the spring sports season will most likely be impacted; however, what that looks like at this point is unknown.
I will be spending today through the weekend and into next week to update you with answers to the above and more as we work through this outbreak. Above all else, we will make decisions that are in the best of our students and community.
