Congratulations On Your Retirement – Betty Townsend
Please help us celebrate and pay tribute to our retirees from the Pendleton School District.
Today, we congratulate Betty Townsend, a Special Education teacher at Sherwood Elementary School. She has worked in the district for 17 years. Betty will miss the challenge of understanding what a child is trying to tell in their behavior. She will miss the joy in a child’s face when they can finally read or solve a problem they struggled with and miss supporting and working with other teachers with the challenges students can bring into the classroom. Every teacher Betty has worked with has been influential or an inspiration. Teachers coming from so many different places and perspectives have taught her to gather as much information as possible before jumping to a conclusion.
Betty’s words of wisdom: “I believe that behavior is a language that we as teachers need to translate for children so we can teach them how to navigate this world.”
Thank you, Betty, for your commitment to the students of Pendleton School District. We wish you well on your next adventure.
