Superintendent Message – August 26, 2021

Just a few reminders as the first day of school is just around the corner.  Our staff has worked hard over the last several days and weeks to prepare our buildings and classrooms in order to keep your children safe, healthy and able to learn.

Start & End Times:  Our schools will have staggered start and end times this year to help reduce the number of students on a bus to assist with physical distancing.  Elementary schools will start at 8 am and release at 2:30 pm.  Sunridge Middle School will start at 8:45 am and release at 3:15 pm.  Pendleton High School will begin classes at 8:40 am and release at 3:35 pm.

Keeping Everyone Safe:  Just a reminder that we are opening the school year utilizing many of the same mitigation strategies that we ended last year with.  All of these are recommended by the CDC and other national health authorities.  They include:

  • Keeping students distanced to the extent possible,
  • Wearing face coverings,
  • Encouraging good hygiene,
  • Practicing good respiratory etiquette,
  • Minimizing the sharing of equipment,
  • Safety and health reminders posted throughout each building,
  • Use of hand sanitizers in classrooms, common areas and entrances, and
  • Frequent cleaning of common areas.

In addition, please do not send your child to school when they are sick.  Attached is a letter that was sent out earlier in August to all parents to assist you when your children have a variety of symptoms.

Primary COVID Symptoms:  Since the virus is still prevalent in our area at elevated levels, please keep in mind the four primary symptoms of COVID; 1) loss of taste or smell, 2) cough, 3) fever or feverish, and 4) shortness of breath.  If you or your child have these symptoms, I would advise you to contact your primary care provider immediately.

Home Test Kits:  As these have become more common, if you use these and the result is positive, you should isolate your child and seek medical advice from your primary care provider.  They should not return to school until they are cleared by a medical professional.

We are excited to have your children back in school, and despite the challenges before, we know this is the best place for them to receive their education.  Here’s to a great school year!

Respectfully,
Chris Fritsch

Parent Letter – August 10, 2021

Respetuosamente,
Chris Fritsch
