Superintendent Message – July 29, 2020
It has been a while since I last communicated with all of you, but we are at a point that we need to communicate plans for the 2020-2021 school year.
It has been a while since I last communicated with all of you, but we are at a point that we need to communicate plans for the 2020-2021 school year.
Since June 10, our district has been working on a plan to reopen schools in the fall.
Although the 2019-2020 school year did not end as planned, we can look back with pride with our collective response.
I hope this message finds you all healthy and safe.
Today at 1 pm, Governor Kate Brown announced that public schools in Oregon would be closed to students for the remainder of the school year.
Up to this point of the emergency closure, we have been focused on providing meals, learning resources, and planning Distance Learning for All among other things.
Although it has been a few days since I last communicated with families and patrons, there is little to report since my last message. Monday night we did receive notice from the Oregon Department of Education….
We have received no new information over the weekend from the Oregon Department of Education or the Governor’s Office. So, unfortunately, we have no answers regarding seniors, graduation, or emergency closure in general.
Meals: We are implementing what we hope is a smoother process to receive meals at the PELC and Washington Elementary utilizing a “drive-thru” strategy.
The parent response to receiving supplemental materials and Chromebooks for students to work from home has exceeded our expectations.
