Superintendent Message – February 23, 2021
I am proud to announce that our first day with elementary students back in our buildings went extremely well.
I am proud to announce that our first day with elementary students back in our buildings went extremely well.
I am happy to announce that the Pendleton School District will begin the transition from Comprehensive Distance Learning to the Hybrid model beginning on Monday, February 22nd.
We are looking forward to welcoming our elementary school students back for in-person instruction, but we understand not all families will be ready to make the move this year.
Over the last several weeks, announcements have been made, both statewide and locally, suggesting hope for our students, especially at the elementary level, to return to school as early as mid-February. As superintendent, that remains my highest priority.
Over the last month the governor and others have been talking about their hope and desire to reopen schools in Oregon.
On Tuesday, January 19th, we are expecting to receive updates to the Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance.
On Tuesday, our School Board reviewed a draft proposed school reopening plan in response to Governor Brown’s December 23rd directive to the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education.
All of us believe the best place for our students is at school.
Our schools are continuing to operate under Comprehensive Distance Learning mode, and it appears this will continue for the foreseeable future.
The Oregon Department of Education along with the Oregon Health Authority announced new metrics this morning for reopening schools in the state of Oregon.
